Make A Plan

Well it’s been a while since I been on here and it’s been a busy time here on the homestead!

So busy that I’ve not been to the gym lately but I have been working outside a lot and using my workout machine so it’s not all bad!

How about you? What’s your plan? Do you slow down come summer or quit the gym and workout at home? I think its good either way as long as you don’t quit totally!! I also have some weights sitting near my chair to remind me to get lifting!! It’s been a long journey with a lot of ups and downs and that’s normal we all are going to have weeks with a gain ! We just have to shake it off and start new the next day believe me I know how easy it would be to just say who cares anymore I messed up so why try anyway!! Been there done that!

Gain 2 pounds, lose 3 and sometimes plateau for a month!! That was hard on me knowing I have only 30 pounds to go and man it’s been the hardest! But I’m NOT giving up I think about it this way ; where was a I a year ago? A lot lighter ! Well there you go so why throw in the towel when you have come this far and done so good ! See what I mean , Look at it from where you were and then where you would like to be!!

Have a plan make a strategy like what will you do when you have a gain ? What’s your plan? Write it down then go back to it when you need it. And you will need it , We all do!!

So pull up those big girl or guy pants and hang in there you come to far Baby!!

Hows The Work Outs Going?

Hopefully your still at it!  Are you getting bored?  Hows your routine doing?

Well you might say something like this “I’m bored with it, I’m tired of doing the same things or I can’t just get into it like I was”.  These are all familiar statements when we work out and a-lot of reasons why we QUIT!   But we can’t have that!  So let’s talk about it see what we come up with and I’ll give you some tips and things that helped me.

Is your energy low? Just Dog Gone Tired or  feeling down and just want to stay home and sit on your butt?


I hear ya!  I’ve been there done that several times and IT DID NOT HELP ME!   It put me in a bad place of feeling like a  failure or defeated and ,  I  just gave up!

Listen we are not going to QUIT!   REPEAT NOT QUITTING!!!  So then How do we get our mojo going??  Well one thing that worked for me was a Buddy System, finding someone who will work out with you at least several times a week, or maybe if you live long distance from them set up phone call times to support each other and talk about how the day went, what kind of workout you did, maybe you tried a new work out or machine, what you ate or plan on eating for dinner etc.

I still do this today!!  I have a cousin and one of us call daily to report to each other and  pump each other up we maybe share some healthy recipes,  Hey we have bad days but we don’t give up!  Tomorrow is another day and just get back to it!!

Maybe you like to work in a group setting or meeting new people like a gym or yoga class or maybe a hiking or walking club and don’t forget Zumba!  That will shake things up!

Spring and Summer are coming how about joining a sports league like baseball, or soccer.  Something I like to do is listen to an audio book while I work out and I actually look forward to the workout because the book keeps me coming back to exercise and the book pulls me in if that makes sense.   Speaking of Spring to get more steps and workouts on my own I worked in the garden this past week, I helped revamp a shed to my chicken coop, raked and cleared out garden area and built raised wood boxes anything to keep moving and burning some calories!   Do you have a fit bit or I watch that can track your movements/steps?  Some even have workouts you can pick and reminders to get up and move!  Not from couch to fridge, But move and walk around a few min!  A few years ago I bought one of those BIG bouncy balls you sit on and etc, Well I sat on it and bounced my butt around while watching tv and at the same time to arm workouts!  Needless to say I fell backwards and hit my head on the floor!!  OUCH!!  Do I still recommend it?  Heck Yes!  It was fun and changed things up a bit (and my head) lol.

Not sure I ever mentioned this, but I’m not a young chick!!  But Dang I’m not dead either so If I can do this stuff so can you!!  I have faith in You!

Something cool I like to do to get me pumped up or in the grove is to go buy new workout cloths!  But be careful, Its addicting man!   I also like to check out the workout equipment and weights not that I can afford it all but I also keep my eyes open on the for sale pages you see on-line or garage sales!  That where I purchased my first exercise bike!  The options are out there we just sometimes have to think outside the box and see things in a different perspective.

This is my all time favorite machine and If I had the room I would get one for home!

If you’re a gardener like me I love walking around the town and checking out their gardens and flowers, I also love walking in the woods or forest, I’m a nature kinda girl I love my trees and birds.  I guarantee it will clear your mind and give you a sense of renewal and energy!


Think about someone who could help you out and support you in your activities toward your workout goals, someone who would help you get out and move more.  Write your goal down and what activity you’re going to do AND how you are going to accomplish it!  Don’t write a whole bunch of goals be specific and take it one step at a time.

Now go find your buddy!  Be it a physical person  beside you or a phone buddy!  It makes it fun and you can help each other with accountability  and new ideas!!   Try something new and get out in nature!!   You got this!!!  I’m right beside you all the way!!

Getting a Work Out in the Winter!

Snow and more snow, ice, sleet!  Hard for a girl to get her workouts!

Well I made it to the gym today finally!  I’m over all this winter stuff!  How about you guys?   So what’s a girl to do when you can’t make it to the gym?

Hopefully you have a device to use at home (lucky I do) but no weights, friends or the cool sweaty workout environment!   I know you must be thinking she’s NUTS!  But hey whatever it takes to get this weight off right?    Ok so you don’t have the machine or weights at home now what?  Well guess we better improvise huh!  And how we going to do that you say!   Well lets start with getting in the mood first!

Work out clothes, check.  Us girls love buying and wearing them, not to mention shopping for them ( thats another story) lol.

Music or I Pods to listen to while working out, check

Locked door to keep unwanted visitors out, such as husband, dogs, cats, or Whatever!  check.

Oh and how about Please don’t eat before you work out!  Man thats hard to vamp up the energy after eating, But do drink your water!  check

Ok We are in the mood now right??!!  OK so next step.

No machine No weight NO PROBLEM!    Floor exercises now don’t moan or cry we got this!!  And how about some good Ol Richard Simmons or Zumba or MY favorite  Body Groove which is free style dancing and moves to music and hey they even have one for Seniors!!  Dig that Man!!

How about free style weight!  You know those ones like you get at discount stores in different colors and sizes,  And if you don’t have them lets just fill up some milk jugs or grab some cans of food, your dog, cat, husband,  oops forgo the last one!! lol

So do what you have to do and not give up or give in!  Theirs always a way just think outside the box a bit and YOU GOT THIS!!!

Another day Another step closer to my goal!

More water more steps more work outs!! This past weekend was out of town and out of my normal workout routine! I managed to do treadmill and some different leg weight which put my knee in frenzy for a couple days !! A little Lavender oil rub, deep blue and rest I got through it !

I caught myself wondering why do I do this!!?? The pain, The time, all the negative nelly thoughts creeping in!

I know I’m not the only one who has ever thought this! This is why we give up when it gets tough !! THIS is when we regroup and remind ourselves why we started this journey in the first place! Is it about losing weight, a medical issue, to get healthy , or maybe gain weight??

We each have our reasons and can all be different for each of us .

So what is your reason I ask?

Did you set a goal?

Do you have a plan to obtain that goal?

What if you have a set back? (we all do eventually) we’re human.

For me my goal is to lose weight and get healthy!

I have had little goals I have reached along the journey such as getting off meds, increased strength, endurance, walking , less joint pain lol till the other day!

Smaller sizes, decrease appetite and remember all these little goals lead to the ultimate goal your working towards! For me I feel these small goals is what gave me the Determination to keep going for my main big goal!!!

So think about it a while, ask your self what little goals can I work towards while you keep going for the BIG GOAL!!

Maybe you need a support person or group ? I did and glad I still do! Or maybe a workout Buddie , Books, DVD’s (workouts)

Do whatever works for you my friend and never quit and remember you will have down days but just pull up those big girl or big boy pants and keep on keeping on!!! I’ll be cheering for you!!!
