Hows The Work Outs Going?

Hopefully your still at it!  Are you getting bored?  Hows your routine doing?

Well you might say something like this “I’m bored with it, I’m tired of doing the same things or I can’t just get into it like I was”.  These are all familiar statements when we work out and a-lot of reasons why we QUIT!   But we can’t have that!  So let’s talk about it see what we come up with and I’ll give you some tips and things that helped me.

Is your energy low? Just Dog Gone Tired or  feeling down and just want to stay home and sit on your butt?

I hear ya!  I’ve been there done that several times and IT DID NOT HELP ME!   It put me in a bad place of feeling like a  failure or defeated and ,  I  just gave up!

Listen we are not going to QUIT!   REPEAT NOT QUITTING!!!  So then How do we get our mojo going??  Well one thing that worked for me was a Buddy System, finding someone who will work out with you at least several times a week, or maybe if you live long distance from them set up phone call times to support each other and talk about how the day went, what kind of workout you did, maybe you tried a new work out or machine, what you ate or plan on eating for dinner etc.

I still do this today!!  I have a cousin and one of us call daily to report to each other and  pump each other up we maybe share some healthy recipes,  Hey we have bad days but we don’t give up!  Tomorrow is another day and just get back to it!!

Maybe you like to work in a group setting or meeting new people like a gym or yoga class or maybe a hiking or walking club and don’t forget Zumba!  That will shake things up!

Spring and Summer are coming how about joining a sports league like baseball, or soccer.  Something I like to do is listen to an audio book while I work out and I actually look forward to the workout because the book keeps me coming back to exercise and the book pulls me in if that makes sense.   Speaking of Spring to get more steps and workouts on my own I worked in the garden this past week, I helped revamp a shed to my chicken coop, raked and cleared out garden area and built raised wood boxes anything to keep moving and burning some calories!   Do you have a fit bit or I watch that can track your movements/steps?  Some even have workouts you can pick and reminders to get up and move!  Not from couch to fridge, But move and walk around a few min!  A few years ago I bought one of those BIG bouncy balls you sit on and etc, Well I sat on it and bounced my butt around while watching tv and at the same time to arm workouts!  Needless to say I fell backwards and hit my head on the floor!!  OUCH!!  Do I still recommend it?  Heck Yes!  It was fun and changed things up a bit (and my head) lol.

Not sure I ever mentioned this, but I’m not a young chick!!  But Dang I’m not dead either so If I can do this stuff so can you!!  I have faith in You!

Something cool I like to do to get me pumped up or in the grove is to go buy new workout cloths!  But be careful, Its addicting man!   I also like to check out the workout equipment and weights not that I can afford it all but I also keep my eyes open on the for sale pages you see on-line or garage sales!  That where I purchased my first exercise bike!  The options are out there we just sometimes have to think outside the box and see things in a different perspective.

This is my all time favorite machine and If I had the room I would get one for home!

If you’re a gardener like me I love walking around the town and checking out their gardens and flowers, I also love walking in the woods or forest, I’m a nature kinda girl I love my trees and birds.  I guarantee it will clear your mind and give you a sense of renewal and energy!

 

Think about someone who could help you out and support you in your activities toward your workout goals, someone who would help you get out and move more.  Write your goal down and what activity you’re going to do AND how you are going to accomplish it!  Don’t write a whole bunch of goals be specific and take it one step at a time.

Now go find your buddy!  Be it a physical person  beside you or a phone buddy!  It makes it fun and you can help each other with accountability  and new ideas!!   Try something new and get out in nature!!   You got this!!!  I’m right beside you all the way!!

In It For The Long Haul!!

Are you about to give up?

ARE YOU!!

 

I know you have ask yourselves this many a time!!  I know for a fact I have so many times I can’t count them!!   Basically Here, I’m talking about the “H” word HEALTH  however you want to put it healthy life, healthy eating, healthy living, healthy input, healthy exercise, healthy bowel movements!!   But for me It’s Healthy ALL OF THE ABOVE!!

If you have followed my previous post on my Health Journey you know by now I have had my ups and downs;  And If you have not read them I encourage you to do so just so you know I’m human!  We all are!!  (This post will be linked to the latter ones I spoke of).

Half of February and up till today I have been up and down on the scale some of it my fault and some not,  But I’m here to tell you I have  had many days thinking about just throwing in the towel and breaking the scale plus a few dishes!!  Its been a long road and I just didn’t think it would take this long!!!  I started almost a year ago, to be exact  in two weeks will be my  One year start date I have been at this diet, healthy eating, blah, blah,blah,  AND still not at goal !!!

Do I give up, throw in the towel, cry my eyes out and anything else I can think of!  ???Getting a Work Out in the Winter!

It took me 35 years to get unhealthy!!  So what makes me think I can do it in months!!!

What was I thinking??  What am  I thinking!!  Ok I understand that sorta!   It’s the American way “I want to it now”!!!  But In reality it’s not going to happen that quick when  I have more than 25 pounds to lose ;  But Hey that’s ok I have learnt a lot in the process and a lot about me!  I didn’t gain it overnight and I’m not going to lose it overnight!

Yes it would be so easy, a relief not to worry or think about food all the time, what to eat, what should I eat, how much to eat, etc.etc…..     Healthy Living At Least Trying

Number one;  I , me, you, we can’t keep thinking about that damn scale all the time that in its self, will drive you to depression or a BIG food party!!  It’s not always the scale or the numbers where we can see the rewards;  It can be many other things such as smaller cloths, feeling more energy, off medications and more, you get the idea.   So no lets not throw in the towel and yes we will have our ups and downs and victories  some on the scale, some off  the scale.   Maybe we do have a medical issue that at times it flares up and causes some weight gain and the next week it’s better, We just have to remember that and take it into consideration.   That is one of my issues I had  a bowel resection and I’m in constant battle with foods and constipation. (sorry for the bad visual) .  But some us have some kind of health issue that will get in the losing weight way time and again and that’s ok just don’t beat yourself up over it!  Your body will catch up.

So I guess what I’m saying is, This Healthy Journey is a “MIND SET”  It’s not just reading a diet book or a new trend  and saying,  “Hey I’m going to do this! ”   You have to get it set in your mind, and make a plan!   OR IT JUST BECOMES A WISH !!!

So NO we are not going to quit!  not now not ever!!  Living Healthy is not just a diet it is a way of life and once you reach your healthy goal you have to maintain it right??

RIGHT!  Think about it if you have turned your life around and now living healthy enjoying life, happier than ever, don’t you want to keep it that way??  Well I sure do !!!

Not saying you will never get to eat the foods you want to, you can just do it moderately and be accountable for it!  Maybe more exercise that week you know  your going out or for a special occasion.  Remember to drink your daily water, watch your sugar, up your exercise that’s all planning ahead!  Let me put this out right here I’m NOT a Dr, a Diet Guru or Specialist I’m just me sharing my thoughts and what I have been through and believe me its been tough but man It’s been worth it to feel the freedom and happiness in so many ways and so MY fight MY journey continues one day at time with a positive mindset!  At least for today right??  Right!  And you can too just never give up, never throw in the towel!!            Getting over the Hurdles

Another day Another step closer to my goal!

More water more steps more work outs!! This past weekend was out of town and out of my normal workout routine! I managed to do treadmill and some different leg weight which put my knee in frenzy for a couple days !! A little Lavender oil rub, deep blue and rest I got through it !

I caught myself wondering why do I do this!!?? The pain, The time, all the negative nelly thoughts creeping in!

I know I’m not the only one who has ever thought this! This is why we give up when it gets tough !! THIS is when we regroup and remind ourselves why we started this journey in the first place! Is it about losing weight, a medical issue, to get healthy , or maybe gain weight??

We each have our reasons and can all be different for each of us .

So what is your reason I ask?

Did you set a goal?

Do you have a plan to obtain that goal?

What if you have a set back? (we all do eventually) we’re human.

For me my goal is to lose weight and get healthy!

I have had little goals I have reached along the journey such as getting off meds, increased strength, endurance, walking , less joint pain lol till the other day!

Smaller sizes, decrease appetite and remember all these little goals lead to the ultimate goal your working towards! For me I feel these small goals is what gave me the Determination to keep going for my main big goal!!!

So think about it a while, ask your self what little goals can I work towards while you keep going for the BIG GOAL!!

Maybe you need a support person or group ? I did and glad I still do! Or maybe a workout Buddie , Books, DVD’s (workouts)

Do whatever works for you my friend and never quit and remember you will have down days but just pull up those big girl or big boy pants and keep on keeping on!!! I’ll be cheering for you!!!
