1-1/2 c of Distilled Water
3 T Coconut Oil
2 Cups Washing Soda(. not baking soda! Find it at Wal-Mart in the cleaning section)

Add finely grated bar soap to the boiling water and stir until the soap is melted.
Pour the soap water into a large clean pail and add the Borax and Washing Soda and stir until soap is melted.
Add 2 Gallons of water, stir until well mixed.
Cover pail and allow to set 24 hours. The detergent will gel and require stirring before each use.
Use 1/2 cup per large load
Thats Less than 4 cents per load!!
I like to add some Essential Oil to the detergent after I’ve added the 2 gallons to it; My favorite is Lavender and a little Tea Tree Oil.
All natural and no chemicals in this!!
This made 4 small 4oz jars
Lavender is healing to the skin and a natural disinfectant
Frankincense is healing to skin and wrinkles and helps reduce inflammation
Lemon helps reduce cellulitis deposits and cooling to the body
So good and not greasy! See that was easy peasy!! ENJOY!
I was standing here folding laundry and looking at the cloths pin basket and wash board and the old memories came up from my child hood!! A little of a nightmare I might add !
I was about 10-12 yo and remember hanging up cloths outside after mom threw them in a basket and out I went to hang those wet things up , not my favorite thing to do mind ya!
Then back in to the OLD Maytag Ringer washing machine! It was my job to take them out of the rinse water and hand run them through the ringer of the Machine, the spool thingy spun the whole time I was trying to just barely push a piece of wet clothing into it that thing! Well then all of a sudden before I knew it that sucker had me!!!
It grabbed my fingers then my hand, then went rolling and grabbing my wrist half way up my dang arm!!! Holy Batman I was doomed the thing wouldn’t unlock then finally after mom was banging on the release that monster let go of its grip!!
Well to this day my right wrist and forearm are a little flatter thanks to LAUNDRY!!!
So this gal loves our modern washing appliances so much that I make my own soap, softener and kinda dream of hanging my cloths on the line ( If I had one)
It’s coming this spring ! It’s all about Self-Reliance you know!
Happy Washing Y’all
About 25 years ago I started drying some of my own veggies which back then wasn’t very many! I started with Celery and green peppers ; now through the years and more time after having had raised 4 boys things have changed.
Living in a little River town the past 23 years I began doing a garden again and canning and freezing along with drying veggies and herbs!
So here are a few items I make with some of my dried vegetables and herbs.
I dried my own Celery last fall and keep in canning jars. It’s so nice to have for soups, stew and such!
The jar on left is the Celery, sorry forgot I ran out of Labels!
The bottom bag is my mix of green peppers, red peppers and jalapeños! So good mixed with Meatloaf,Tacos,Chili and such.
Cilantro my Favorite herb to cook with or mix in my Italian dishes, I’ll be raising more this year !
Then last but Best is my Taco Seasoning and Chili seasoning mixes!
Taco Seasoning Mix
Put all ingredients in a pint jar and shake to mix well, This makes approximately 1 cup.
I add 3-4 Tablespoons to 2 lbs of hamburger
As part of ridding chemicals from our home I have been making my own scent bars/Tarts with natural wax and Essential Oils , not Fragrances which still have chemicals in them.
The Lavender ones I made with my Own Harvested Lavender and used the flower buds along with some pure Lavender Essential Oil.
I use a 1/2 pound of natural soy wax (not from a craft store). I order on line Amazon.
Now just drop into a wax warmer and enjoy and relax! Lavender is good for that!
Another Scent Tart I made I using
Gently stir and pour into mold, oh I love the Silicon molds I purchased on line also!
Essential Oils of Yang Ylang, vetiver, cedar wood and Clove bud.
Note I did not add in coloring to my wax if I did I use natural coloring such as herbs, seeds, fruit and such.
