Here is what you need.

. Cotton or cotton blend fabric for top

.Terry material or cotton fleece

. Thread, straight Pins, Sewing Machine, and some music to sew by!

I cut squares of 13×13 of too fabric and bottom fabric.

Pin together with right sides together. See around edge leaving an opening to turn, then sew all around the edge and sew an X across the middle of both sides.

I’ll be folding mine and putting in a cute wire basket with a bow next to my sink!!

It’s not  something we have to do everyday but at least 2-3 times a week especially if you have oily skin or out in the environment working around dirt, dust or chemicals,  But my thinking why not at least every other day.  So let’s do this!  It is so simple and fun to make.

Ingredients you will need:   Oatmeal (dry), cornmeal (dry) , essential oils,  a food chopper, glass jars with lids.

  • 2 cups of dry oatmeal

  • peppermint essential oil

Mix the oatmeal and cornmeal together  then pour into food blender/chopper and blend till almost fine leaving some chucks of oatmeal,  Pour 1/2 of that into a bowl, Then add the dried Lavender buds and blend together.  Now add that to the bowl and stir all together.

Now it’s time to add the Essential Oils!

  • 20 drops of carrot seed oil
  • 7 drops of peppermint oil

Transfer blended mix into clean jars and apply lids!  Thats It!  so easy and smells so good.

How to use it:

Moisten your face and add enough water to a  tablespoon of powder or so and apply to moist face and gently scrub around avoiding your eyes;  You can even leave it on for 10 min for a mask.

Natural Non-Chemical Laundry Detergent

Chemical or Non- Chemical Laundry Detergent?  Something to think about.

Have you ever washed your cloths with store-bought laundry detergent only to find residue on your so-called clean cloths?  Do you ever feel itchy or develop a rash and not sure why?  Well here are some facts/thoughts  about Commercial Laundry Soap.

img_5479

  1.  What are the dangers of boughton laundry detergent?   Here are a few for ya, Most of the chemicals don’t wash out but area absorbed in our skin and our cloths!

Detergents contain chemicals that can cause skin irritations and also many commercial detergents mimic hormones and distrust the endocrine system, And that will influence mood, reproductions , and metabolism.

Surfactants cause skin irritations.  Check the warning label!  It clearly states avoid direct skin contact!!  Now that’s kind of scary don’t you think?   Surfactants remove the oils from our cloths including natural oils produced by our skin.  It can irritate and aggravate  skin issues and that’s why sensitive skin people will break out or develop a rash.

2.  Many Endocrine Disrupters.  Researchers have found that detergents can disturb endocrine systems and interfere with hormone balance, Like many cleaners that have synthetic estrogens which incense our estrogen level like in the human body, which can have a negative effect on male-fertility.

3.  Bad for the Environment .   After your final rinse cycle in the wash the rinse water and all the stuff goes down the drain and out into the environment.,  It ‘s taken a toll on animal and plant life!  It’s not natural and they cannot process the chemicals !

Sodium triphosphate and tri-sodium phosphate  can make their way int the water and interferes with Sea life, which increases the growth of toxin producing Algea, Which Kills our plants, fish and other sea creatures .

4. Laundry Pods.  Are a form of  Concentrated laundry detergent and have become very popular for its easiness.  Children are at higher risk because they ingest these at a higher rate because of the concentration.  They develop health complaints such as breathing difficulties, digestive issues and lesions resulting in ER visits.

5.  You only need a little.  But you say my cloths are so dirty a little more won’t hurt!   Don’t,  Too much in the wash will leave a residue in your cloths that lead to skin irritation, rashes, and endocrine disruption and possible respiratory distress.

6.  Laundry Detergent Allergies have become a rising complaint.   Stronger the detergent, the worse the ingredients tend to be.  Allergies are on the rise to products containing harsh chemicals!

More and more people are searching for a less harsh detergent and natural alternative, as more Eco-Friendly companies are rising to meet the demand offering more healthy awareness choices.

Face it we all want to be clean but do we want all those chemicals in our cloths and on our skin?   NOT!!   Let’s open our eyes and be more aware of our families, environment and Mother Earth .

Here is a great Laundry Detergent I use ALL the time!  It’s natural, non-chemical and smells ever so good!  Give it a try!   HAPPY LAUNDRY DAYS♥

Cold Infused Herbal Oils

Calendula (calendula officials) Pot Marigold  And Jasmine (jasmine officiale)  Infused Oil

fullsizeoutput_41a9

Calendula and Jasmine infused oils

Infused Oils are simply infusing the dried flowers in oil and then left to soak for several weeks , then the oils is used again with the fresh herb extract. (cold infusion).  The oils can be used for massage oils or a basis for creams, ointments and soaps

I started my infusions by packing the flowers in a sterile pint jar then covered all the herb with organic olive oil making sure all the flowers were covered with an inch of oil on top.

I left it to sit for a week and then because I’m impatient decided to go ahead and do the Quick method which I’ll explain.   I put the jars of herbs into a slow cooker with a towel on the bottom to protect the jars and then filled the cooker with water to the half-way point of the jars with lids on tightly and placed the lid on the cooker and set at LOW temperature setting on 2-4 hours.  Then removed the jars and let cool then strained into new sterile jars through a tea towel or cheese cloth and replaced with clean lids and your DONE!   Remember to store in a cool dark place like a cupboard not close to heat!

Calendula is an antiseptic and anti fungal and can be used for cuts, scrapes, dry skin, inflammations and minor injuries.   This made a mildly scented fragrance.

Makes a great cream for this purpose.

Jasmine  is a fragrant floral herb with anticatarrhal, antidepressant, and antispasmodic properties.  Other possible uses with coughs, eczema, menstrual pain and muscle spasms.    The fragrance was weaker than I thought it would be, making me wonder if the herb was as fresh as it should have been; So heads up and double-check if you’re ordering your herbs.   Choose a reputable company for  freshness and quality.

It is good for dry, greasy, irritated and sensitive skin.  I can’t wait to add to my homemade soaps!

SO WHAT IS AROMATHERAPY YOU SAY? WHAT DOES IT DO FOR ME?  WELL LET ME SHARE A FEW THINGS I KNOW ABOUT IT AND WE CAN BOTH LEARN.

THE HISTORY OF FRAGRANCE IS SHROUDED IN MYSTERY.  PRIMITIVE USE BEGAN WITH  BURNING GUMS AND RESINS FOR INCENSE, THEN EVENTUALLY  TO RICH SCENTED PLANTS THAT WERE INCORPORATED INTO ANIMAL AND VEGETABLE OILS TO ANOINT THE BODY FOR CEREMONY AND PLEASURE.

FROM 7000 TO 4000 BC, THE FOILS OF OLIVE AND SESAME ARE THOUGHT TO BE COMBINED WITH FRAGRANT PLANTS TO CREATE THE ORIGINAL NEOLITHIC OINTMENTS.   EGYPTIANS IMPORTED MYRRH AND SPICES, GUMS AND FRAGRANT PLANTS RESERVED FOR RELIGIOUS PURPOSES.

THEN THE HEBREWS IN 1200 BC EMPLOYED FRAGRANCE TO CONSECRATE THEIR TEMPLES, ALTARS, CANDLES AND PRIEST.  THE HOLY OIL GIVEN TO MOSES FOR THE INITIATION OF PRIEST:  MYRRH, CINNAMON AND CLAMUS , WIXED WITH OLIVE OIL.
